Education is a continuous process. Many parents are in dilemma as to which school to put their children in. Every school talks about being very innovative and proudly talks about teaching techniques. The question is- Are they building confidence and developing competence in these tiny tots? Schools have mushroomed in and around Bangalore city. Parents don’t mind incurring heavy expenditure on donations provided it is a branded institution. The schools nowadays have become a source of income generation and the morals and ethics have been left far behind. Parents are not bothered to find out what is being taught in school.

A kindergarten child comes home and says “Jesus is the only God. All the other Gods are Devils’. He stops going to temples and being part of religious ceremonies in the house but Parents ignore, thinking it’s a passing phase. No,it isn’t because whatever you teach at that age is imprinted in the child’s brain. School should have secular approach.
A FEW GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS
1
If you are looking for a school for your child, then you must see that you select such a school which will help building a strong foundation.
2
Check whether the school is registered.
3
It should give you a positive and warm feeling as your child is going to continue there life long.
4
The teaching faculty should be approachable.
5
.Is the school having a balance of Academics and co-curriculars?
6
Are they teaching ethics, morals and values and in which way?
7
Is it teacher centered or child centered education? g.Is E.Q important to them as I.Q?
8
Are the children subjected to corporal punishment?
9
Will any of your suggestions be considered by the management?
10
Is the school techno savvy?
11
Is the child encouraged for his imaginative ideas?
12
How often are the P.T, A’S?
13
Are they promoting a particular religion, sect or cult?
14
Last but not the least, is personal care and love given? Is there a congenial learning atmosphere existing?
In general, a teacher must part with his egos and develop a strong bond with parents. I personally as an educator feel that there should be an overall development of Spritual, Emotional, Intellectual, Physical and Creative growth enhanced by the school in the children so that they can become Strong Nation Builders.
